Zimba Women has been nominated for the Women In Tech challenge.
The organization that was earlier this year also nominated for the World Summit on Information Society-ITU Prizes 2019 contest in the category (Action Line) C4: “Capacity building”, has been pitted against three women led organizations from the UK and Australia who are supporting women in STEM in the category of entrepreneurship.
The 2019 Women In Tech Challenge that recognizes initiatives that have helped improve diversity and promote women empowerment in STEM, will take place on May 15, in Paris France.
Speaking in a statement about the thrilling news, Sherrifah Tumusiime, the co-founder of Zimba Women said it’s an honor and privilege.
“It is an honor, and it is a privilege to be constantly celebrated for the work we do and it is all because of the incredible men and women who inspire me, who challenge me, who sustain me and who have made our journey to this stage possible. I want all the women watching us here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon! And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, and some really phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the entrepreneurs and leaders they aspire to be.” She said.
Zimba Women is an organization that provides tools and technology platforms, business training, mentor-ship and networks to improve the livelihoods for women in sub-Saharan Africa.
