Zahara Abdul Shortlisted For World’s Most Prestigious Photography Exhibition

Zahara Abdul has been shortlisted for the International Photography Exhibition163.

The multi-award-winning documentary photographer is among the 279 photographers who have been shortlisted from a pool of over 4000 entries from 50 countries for the prestigious exhibition, held by the Royal Photography Society in the U.K.

Zahara took to Twitter on Monday, August 16, to break the exciting news to her thousands of followers, saying she was immensely honoured.

The shortlist consists of photographs from my series “Get on Board” which features young skateboarders on the outskirts of Kigali,” Zahara announced.

The International Photography Exhibition 163 (IPE 163) is the world’s longest-running photographic exhibition that celebrates contemporary photography from across the globe.

Alongside a £5,500 prize fund split into different amounts for four prizes, awards include a group and solo exhibition at the Royal Photographic Society in Bristol and a photographic commission to create new work.

Zahara’s exceptional photography work has earned her several recognitions including a Uganda Press Photo Award. She won the first prize at the 2017 Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung competition. Zahara has also worked with some of the world’s most prestigious brands like UNICEF, Reuters, among others.
