‘Digital Safe Tea’, a brainchild of Ugandan based civic technology company Pollicy, has won a global UNESCO-Netexplo award.
The interactive fiction game on digital safety, designed for women, was one of the 10 recipients of the 2022 Global Science and Technology Innovation awards at this year’s edition of the UNESCO-Netexplo Innovation Forum that took place on April 13, 2022, in Paris, France.
According to the award organizers, the awards were given to the 10 most inspiring, powerful and surprising innovations in the past year that may change our future.

‘Digital Safe Tea’ is an online game that helps African women deal with social media abuse. The “choose your own adventure” format helps players navigate situations like doxing, phishing, online dating scams, revenge porn and cyber-stalking. The game can be played in English, Luganda, Swahili or French.
