Ugandan Aerospace Engineer Lynette Kebirungi Nominated For Prestigious UK Awards

Ugandan aerospace engineer Lynette Kebirungi has been nominated for the prestigious 2022 Rising Star awards in the UK.

The UK based engineer who currently works at British luxury car and aero-engine manufacturing company Rolls Royce has been nominated in the category of Science and Engineering. 

Lynette took to her Socials to share the news with her followers and ask for their support to bring the award home. 

“Extremely excited and honoured to have been shortlisted alongside all the other incredible women for the Rising Star award in Science and Engineering!

The 8th edition of the annual awards show will take place on July 14, 2022, in the UK
Organized by We Are The City and powered by Marie Claire and the Royal Bank of Canada, the Rising Star awards aim to recognize and celebrate 100 female role models and individual contributors across a variety of different industries who represent the future leaders of tomorrow.

 Lynette made history after she became Uganda’s first Aerospace engineer with an MSc when she graduated from Imperial College London. Following her passion for aerospace, Lynette joined Rolls-Royce Plc where she has worked across three business sectors; Control Systems, Civil and Defence aerospace. Within these sectors, she has designed and tested various engine components across the fuel, combustor, turbine and cabin bleed systems. She is currently working on the Tempest team that is designing the future combat aircraft systems that will keep airspace safe. In 2019, Lynette was awarded as one of the UK Top 20 women in data and highly recommended in the Commonwealth category of the Women of the Future in 2020.
