This book by Indian-born American author Deepak Chopra, is quite a short but very deep read, comprising of only 39 pages and what’s more is that he offers guidelines you can follow to apply these laws.
It talks about the laws nature uses to create everything in existence which are the very laws we can use to create everything we desire. They include the law of pure potentiality, the law of giving, the law of karma, the law of least effort, the law of intention and desire, the law of detachment and the law of “dharma” or purpose in life.
Deepak Chopra stresses that we are unique spiritual beings just like all God’s creations but dressed in different bodies.
Here are some of the most notable quotes from the book.
“Ego-based power will only last as long as those things last. As soon as the title, the job, the money go away, so does the power. Self-power, on the other hand, is permanent, because it is based on the knowledge of the Self.”
We should strive to get Self power, the deep-rooted power that derives from within, from being aware of who we are.
“The easiest way to get what you want is to help others get what they want.”
If you want something, you have to give it first. Such is the law of nature. Your intentions also matter a lot, they must not be selfish, they should be informed by love.
“At the moment you consciously make a choice, pay attention to your body and ask your body, If I make this choice, what happens? If your body sends a message of comfort, that’s the right choice. If your body sends a message of discomfort, then it’s not the appropriate choice.”
The heart never lies; it never leads us in the wrong direction. Deepak Chopra stresses this. It should be used as a constant companion when making decisions.
“When your actions are motivated by love, your energy multiplies and accumulates and the surplus energy you gather and enjoy can be channeled to create anything that you want, including unlimited wealth.”
Deepak stresses that we should pursue careers that we love, for when we are immersed in doing what we love, there’s no energy leak.
“Anything you want can be acquired through detachment, because detachment is based on the unquestioning belief in the power of your true Self.”
Here, you set yourself to achieve something, you work with pointed attention, giving it your best but at the same time you are not attached to the results. You cease to worry about the outcomes because you have faith in your true Self having put in all your best efforts.
“There is something that you can do better than anyone else in the whole world and for every unique talent and unique expression of that talent, there are also unique needs.”
We each have something unique to offer this world, this is why for example we could have countless singers but each one of them will sound different and likewise appeal to different people.
“There’s one thing you can do, and one way of doing it, that is better than anyone else on this entire planet. When you’re doing that one thing, you lose track of time. When you’re expressing that one unique talent that you possess or more than one unique talent in many cases the expression of that talent takes you into timeless awareness.”
This is, according to Deepak, how you know it is is what you should be doing to serve humanity. This is the career you should be pursuing, it’s your purpose.
