The Kofi Annan Foundation and the Democracy and Culture Foundation are now accepting nominations for the 2025 Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy Prize.
This prestigious award honors young leaders, aged 18 to 30, who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting or defending democracy. The nomination window is open from January 21 to March 31, 2025.
Nomination Process:
Eligibility: Nominees must be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of nomination. There are no restrictions regarding nationality, gender, or occupation.
Submission Requirements: Nominations must be submitted by organizations and include:
- A completed submission form.
- A cover letter of support (maximum 500 words).
- A short video testimony from the nominee (up to 2 minutes, which can be recorded on a smartphone).
Submission Deadline: All nomination materials should be sent to nominations@democracyculturefoundation.org by midnight CET on March 31, 2025.
Award Details:
The recipient will receive a monetary prize of $10,000 USD and a one-year mentorship with a renowned democracy expert. Additionally, the winner will be invited to organize a panel session on youth and democracy at the following year’s Athens Democracy Forum.
