Precious Turinawe’s Easy Matatu Among Startups Nominated For 2022 Africa Tech Awards

Precious Turinawe’s startup Easy Matatu, has been nominated for the 2022 Africa Tech awards.

 The Ugandan based startup is among the 45 startups from different African countries that have been long-listed for the inaugural awards, developed to recognize and support impactful start-ups across three key sectors – Climate Tech, Health Tech and FinTech. 

Easy Matatu has been selected in the Climate Tech category alongside Agrotech Plus (Kenya), Atlan Space (Morrocco), Bekia (Egypt), Eco-V Green Tower (South Africa), Farmtopia (Egypt), Ipren Group (Nigeria), iShamba Limited (Kenya), Koolboks (France and Nigeria), Kumulus (France and Tunisia), MyJouleBox (Aress) (Benin), Seavo (Egypt), SUNPave (Egypt), The Awareness Company (South Africa) and WEEE Centre (Kenya).

 Founded in 2019 by Precious Turinawe, Andrew Ssali and Lema Carl Andrew, Easy Matatu is a Ugandan based mass transit platform reforming public transport in Africa by utilizing informal minibuses to connect commuters to reliable, safe and clean transportation.

A jury of industry experts is now expected to narrow down the list to nine finalists – three from each category. The top nine finalists will be invited to VivaTech in June, where they will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations and pitch their ideas in front of a global audience of top investors, tech industry leaders, and media, among others.
Organized by VivaTech in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the first edition of the
AfricaTech Awards will take place at VivaTech in June 2022.
