Ugandan film ‘Veronica’s Wish’ continues creating waves almost a year after its release.
The 2018 groundbreaking film that was written and produced by Nisha Kalema has been nominated in the 2019 African Movie Academy Awards, Africa’s Oscars Awards.

The Rehema Nanfuka directed film has been given a nod in the category of ‘Best Achievement In Makeup’ where it is pitted against Makeroom (Nigeria), Gold Statue (Nigeria),Sew the Winter to My Skin (S. Africa), Before the Vows (GHANA), Mercy of the Jungle (Rwanda) and The Burial of Kojo (Ghana).

Reacting to the exciting news, Joan Nalubega who worked as a makeup artist on the film set expressed her excitement for the recognition, emphasizing it means a lot to her.

“Congrats to my self, Veronica’s Wish cast n crew, the producer for not watching AMAAs pass with out submitting our great works. This nomination means alot to my makeup works. Am excited already. This nomination is not a joke for me. Thnx African Movie Academy Awards for the nomination. Praying for beta deeds thereafter.” Nalubega said in a post on Facebook.

The 15th edition of the prestigious awards that aims to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry will be held on October 26, in Lagos Nigeria.
