The Mashiriki Film Festival 2019 has been officially announced.
Ahead of the annual event that will be held under the theme ‘Cinema To Highlight Humanity’ from March 24-31, in Kigali Rwanda, the organizers have unveiled the list of the nominees for this year’s edition of the awards, and ladies we are well represented.
A total of four Ugandan lady film makers have been given nods for their contribution in the industry.
Angella Emurwon, a playwright and director who won the 2012 BBC International Playwriting Competition, has been nominated for her 2016 film ‘Sunday’ in the category of Best East African Short Film.
Patience Nitumwesigye, a writer and director has been given a nod for her film ‘Communion’ which is vying for the Best African Short Film and Best East African Short Film categories.
Meanwhile Nisha Kalema and Rehema Nanfuka’s Veronica’s Wish has been nominated in the category of Best Feature Film.
