The highly anticipated 2022 Uganda Film Festival awards took place on Friday, June 3, at the Institute of Information and Communication Technology in Nakawa.
Organized by the Uganda Communications Commission, the 9th edition of the annual awards show saw several Ugandan film personalities recognized for churning out groundbreaking film projects in the past year as well as their tremendous contribution to the film industry.
Evelyn Kironde Namatovu, Tania Shakirah and Lubeera Saphina were among the stars that walked away with accolades. Namatovu was awarded Best TV Actress in a Drama or TV Series for her role Chelsea in Prestige, Tania won best-supporting actress in a feature film while Lubeera walked away with the Best Student Film Award for her directorial debut film ‘Ghetto Fist’. Legendary actress Nana Kagga received Best Television Actress in a Feature Film award while Rita Kayeny won the Best Animation award for Sinza which she co-directed with Musisi Alex.
