East African Agricultural Innovators Invited to Apply for RAIN Challenge 2025

Agricultural innovators across East Africa have been invited to participate in the third round of the Resilient Agriculture Innovations for Nature (RAIN) Challenge. Organized by the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) in collaboration with the Shockwave Foundation and Munich Re Foundation, the challenge aims to identify and scale nature-positive agricultural solutions that enhance resilience to climate shocks. Applications close on 31 January 2025.

After the success of RAIN’s first two phases, this initiative continues to serve as a platform for advancing groundbreaking agricultural ideas that address resilience needs within East African communities. RAIN was initially launched at COP27, with the winners of its first phase announced in January 2024. Phase II was introduced at COP28, culminating in the announcement of winners in December 2024. Now, RAIN Phase III builds on this momentum, offering a fresh opportunity for agricultural pioneers in the region.

RAIN seeks innovative and scalable solutions that align with nature-positive principles while addressing pressing challenges in agriculture, nutrition, and food security. The goal is to foster investment in ecosystems, enhance resilience, and create conditions for sustainable agricultural practices. Solutions should prioritize biodiversity protection and include considerations for gender equity, human rights, and the needs of communities most affected by climate shocks.
