The world of fashion and modelling is a brutal one that’s not fit for the fainthearted. However, we get to see a lot of success stories spring out of the thorns including Uganda’s very own Aketch Joy Winnie who has enjoyed a very successful career journey, gracing prestigious magazine covers like Glamour, Vogue, among others.

Now Joy is sharing nuggets of wisdom to inspire others to make it too in the industry.

Here is her open letter to aspiring models.

🌱Me looking 👀at a Job I casted for two days ago airing live and am wondering why I am not on set 😂
🌱Coz sure the casting director/Client’s niceness and kindness and assurance of booking me was at 💯
But so is life
We continue to Roll

I know many fashion models feel so down alot of times
I have lived with many models since i started modeling internationally two years ago

I have seen models cry🥺
I have seen models feel so low🙇🏽‍♀️
I have seen my model friends battle lots of insecurities, Rejections and so much more

🌻And trust me at some point even the strongest of fashion models have felt like running away from the Modeling career and never looking back me inclusive 🤗

Do you want to know why❓
Because Acceptances, Confirmations and Rejections are not on a balanced scale ⚖️For the most part the latter holds the greatest weight

To a model out there🌱

🌱Know that your worth aint based on Confirmations and Rejections
🌱Know that you are unique and Beautiful and it is something that the castings can never change
🌱Know that every wait , every silence, every rejection is leading you to that one victorious job acceptance that will not only live you financially in a better place but most importantly emotionally stronger.

One thing for sure is ,“what is for you is for you and God can never deliever your mail in someone else’ Mail box“📭
