Aketch Joy Winnie, a professional Ugandan international model is over the moon after scoring a huge career milestone.
The model who was discovered by Joram Muziira and is also signed to his Joram Model Management made her New York Fashion Week debut over the weekend, walking for New York based clothing brand Sies Marjan alongside models like Adut Akech.
The opportunity is a dream come true for the model who revealed that she waited for more than a year to get all the necessary paperwork that could enable her get to New York and participate in the prestigious annual fashion show that kicked off on September 6 and concludes on September 11.
“Words can not express the joy I have in my heart right now for having my New York Fashion Week debut…” Akello said.
New York Fashion Week (NYFW), held in February and September of each year, is a semi-annual series of events (generally lasting 7–9 days) when international fashion collections are shown to buyers, the press, and the general public. It is one of four major fashion weeks in the world, collectively known as the “Big 4”, along with those in Paris, London, and Milan.
